How do I update software on my Mac?
- Plug in your laptop to a power source.
- Make sure the laptop is connected to the Internet.
- Go to “System Settings” in the dock or by going to the Apple Menu in the top left corner of the screen.
- Then " General".
- Then " Software Update", wait a moment, the laptop will check online if there is any pending update.
- Assuming that there is a pending update, touch on " Download and Install". The laptop will download and install the software for you. Wait. This process can take over 30 minutes.
- When Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, the installed version of macOS and all of its apps are also up to date. That includes Safari, iTunes, Books, Messages, Mail, Calendar, Photos, and FaceTime.
